Re: Analogy: Railroads
by Anonymous
It was Theodore Levitt in his paper, Marketing Myopia, that first shed the light on the fact that the 19th century railroads failed 'cos they defined their business as rail and not as shifting goods and people. Along came roads and the rest is history. So this leads to the question are there 'roads' to threaten the incumbent Teleco's 'railways' ? Is that asset in the ground just worth too much or will it eventually be supplemented by alternatives - both in the last mile and transmission ? If so when will this happen ? Got some thoughts on this (and other matters), however as an incumbent Telco is currently paying me, probably best if I discuss them with you in person. catch ya later Mike
